TPA Donation to the University Health Network

TPA Supporting University Health Network

In March 2020, the TPA donated $250K to the University Health Network (UHN) to show our appreciation for frontline healthcare partners. UHN specializes in critical care response and has the most extensive hospital-based research program in Canada. This donation was to support the health and well-being of frontline healthcare workers throughout the UHN network, fund COVID-19 vaccine research and support mental and PTSD treatment programs benefiting our members. In conjunction with the donation, the TPA launched the #InThisTogetherChallenge social media campaign, challenging other police associations and unions to match our donation.

UHN used our donation to develop critical tools directly supporting frontline workers, including our members. Frontline healthcare workers continue to put their lives on the line every day to care for patients during the COVID-19 pandemic, often at a high cost to their mental health. These tools will help frontline workers to manage the effects of PTSD/Trauma. We are proud that our donation has allowed the Centre for Mental Health at UHN to take a leading role in COVID-19-related mental health care for those on the pandemic’s frontlines and that this resource will continue to provide mental health support for those in need in the future.
